Edison Cricket Club (ECC) was established, at the turn of the millennium (year 2000), as a club for individuals that identified with the sport. We are a registered non-profit organization in New Jersey. Our primary motivation was to provide a friendly, stress free environment for everyone to come and enjoy a competitive sport. A chance to get away from the routine, get some healthy exercise, get some adrenaline pumping through the veins and forget about the mundane is what we seek to offer all involved with this extended family. This culture is apparent in the closeness of the members and the respect everyone shows to each other, regardless of the age. Added to this is the fact that most of the original players continue to be active in the club. Although most members have been involved in community service projects, we continue to push for more effort on this front. We believe ECC to be not just a sports oriented organization, but a social one as well. Taking part in fund raising drives and charitable events, under the ECC banner, should further highlight this purpose. Promotion of the sport and encouragement to newer players is another objective of ECC. To this end we will be mobilizing print and broadcast media to focus on the sport a bit more. Education and exposure to the sport is the only sure way of bringing the game to the masses. Hence, year 2004 saw us joining the Cricket League of New Jersey (CLNJ). Having joined the league ECC only managed to win two games in the entire season. But under the strong leadership of Captain Divyesh Patel, the Club has won more than 60% of the played games in 2006. CLNJ is one of the premier leagues in the Atlantic division, as established by the United States Cricket Association (USACA). It sports a healthy membership of 40 clubs within its' fold. CLNJ has also been supporting a youth program to encourage a new generation of cricket players. We are always looking for, and welcome, people interested in the sport and are encouraged by your passion for the sport. So, come on down to the field and join us. We appreciate your support and participation. |
